Episode 61: Our Favourite Books

Hi friends!

What do you think of the new site? We love it, and are so happy to have given our beloved passion project a little bit of sprucing up. Thanks for stopping by!

On today’s show, we’re answering a listener question: what are our favourite books? You can listen to the show using the player below or by subscribing to us on iTunes.

To say we were excited to record this episode is an understatement: both Laura and I adore reading as well as talking about the books we love. We each had a big list of books to share, and the show features some real gems.

Here’s the full list, but be sure to tune in to find out more about why we love each of these great books.

Episode 51: Thrive by Arianna Huffington (GPG Book Club)

Thrive > Guinea Pigging Green

Welcome back green guinea pigs!

In today’s episode, Steph and I talk about one of our favourite books on the importance of cultivating wellness in our lives: Thrive by Arianna Huffington.

As always, you can visit our iTunes channel to subscribe to Guinea Pigging Green, or you can listen to the podcast using the widget below:

Thrive is an excellent compilation of mindfulness studies, wellness championing, and thought-provoking quotes. We hope some of our favourite quotes she included inspire you too:

“My heart is at ease knowing that what was meant for me will never miss me, and that what misses me was never meant for me.” -Imam Shafi’i

“Everything changed the day she figured out there was exactly enough time for the important things in her life.” -Brian Andreas

“For a long time it had seemed to me that life was about to begin – real life. But there was always some obstacle in the way. Something to be got through first, some unfinished business, time still to be served, a debt to be paid. Then life would begin. At last it dawned on me that these obstacles were my life.” -Fr. Alfred D’Souza

Listen to the rest of the show for more of Huffington’s balanced, inspirational perspectives on life! Lots of love this Tuesday,

— Laura

Welcome back to GPG Book Club!

Because Steph and I will do just about anything Marie Forleo tells us to, we followed her advice and read the Go Giver. You can listen to the episode by clicking on the player above or by subscribing to our iTunes channel.

(If you’re subscribed to our channel already, you’ll notice we posted the episode a few weeks ago. We promise new episodes as soon as Steph gets back from her yoga teacher training adventures!)

This book intrigued me for a couple of reasons:

  • A major theme is that success comes from being generous
  • The main character learns to become a go giver (not a go getter) in a corporate setting.

Ok no spoilers. Did you read the book? Are you planning on it? Let us know in the comments below or join in on the conversation on Twitter.

Have a great week!

Laura
