Podcast + Blog

Can I be on your podcast?

If you have a passion for or are an expert in a topic that relates to health, wellness, mindfulness or eco-friendliness, you probably can! We love to meet new people and learn about new subjects. If you’re interested in being on the show, fill out our form right here or drop us a line at guineapigginggreen@gmail.com

Will you do a post or episode about my green product?

We are open to collaborations with companies whose values align with ours and we assess those kinds of partnerships on a case-by-case basis. If you think your product or service is something we would love, feel free to send us an email at guineapigginggreen@gmail.com

How can I start a podcast?

Awesome question! Having a podcast is so fun and isn’t too hard. Steph has a whole post on how to start a podcast for free right here.

How do you record the show when you’re not in the same place?

We use the technique described in this article whether we are recording just the two of us or with a guest. We each wear headphones and usually there is minimal interference from the microphones.

What equipment do you use to record and edit the show?

We each have a Samson Go Mic and have been so happy with its performance. It’s small but mighty and delivers a beautiful sound quality. Steph uses either Garageband, a built-in Mac application, or Logic Pro X to edit every show.

How did you start a website?

These days it’s actually so easy to have your own website. We use the wonderful hosting services of Bluehost and have been so happy with our service for years now. We use WordPress as our blog platform and it’s hands-down the best around. We’re using a free WordPress theme called West with some customization.

What kind of camera do you use for the photos on the site?

Steph has a Nikon D90 with a 35mm f1.4 lens and Laura has a Canon Powershot G15. And we both use iPhones 4 and 5 respectively to grab some of the photos you see on our Instagram feed.

What are your favourite podcasts?

We did an episode on that here!

What kind of diets do you have?

Laura is a vegan and Steph is a vegetarian. Neither of us have any food allergies or intolerances.

What do you do for work?

Laura works part-time for Borden Communications and Steph works for the Red Tent Sisters. Both of us are also yoga teachers.

What did you study in school?

We both went to McGill University: Steph studied Psychology and Women’s Studies and Laura studied Marketing and Strategy.
