After we recorded our Feminism 101 episode last week, Laura sent me a link to an article about a new initiative from the Canadian Women’s Foundation. They’ve put out a call asking people to donate their voices in order to tell the stories of Canadian girls who have been forced into sex trafficking and aren’t in a position to tell their own stories or advocate for themselves. The campaign is very respectfully done, and we both think it’s such a smart and accessible way to spread awareness about this issue.
You can watch the three advertisements for the campaign (about 30 seconds each) here. I was moved to record one of the stories myself, which you can watch in the video clip above. You can read more of my thoughts about the campaign on my personal blog here. If you’d like to donate your voice, you can do so on their website here, the process is very simple and straightforward. If you don’t feel comfortable recording a video, but are moved to support the campaign, you can donate money here. You can also learn more about the issue of sex trafficking on their website here.
Thanks for reading! Have an awesome week fellow guinea pigs.
