Morning Pages involves journaling every morning about anything in order to clear your mind and even help get the creative juices flowing! I first heard about this practice from the Daily Muse and decided I needed to try it.
According to Julia Cameron, author of the Artist’s Way, there is no wrong way to do Morning Pages. She says:
“Morning Pages are three pages of longhand, stream of consciousness writing,
done first thing in the morning. *There is no wrong way to do Morning Pages–
they are not high art. They are not even “writing.” They are about
anything and everything that crosses your mind– and they are for your eyes
only. Morning Pages provoke, clarify, comfort, cajole, prioritize and
synchronize the day at hand. Do not over-think Morning Pages: just put
three pages of anything on the page…and then do three more pages tomorrow”
Okay, so maybe mine are short (I stick pretty strictly to 1 page), but I think it’s about finding a routine that works for you! We were pretty amused by all of these other common questions Julia receives about something that’s supposed to be so easy (and totally personal!)
