Happy Tuesday everyone!
This weekend, I had the most amazing time visiting the animals at Wishing Well Sanctuary.
I had the chance to meet pigs, goats, sheep, cows, donkeys, horses, and a llama. The Sanctuary is also home to a couple of hens, a rooster, a mother duck, and her adorable fluffy ducklings.
I feel that it is important to say upfront that this is not a petting zoo; Wishing Well is a sanctuary for rescued farmed animals who will not be sold for slaughter at the end of their lives. That said, guests are welcome to enter the pens and show these animals some affection!
Wishing Well, which is located outside of Toronto in Bradford, Ontario, is a forever-home to all of these rescued animals. Many of them have had traumatic experiences with humans in the past, as do the vast majority of farmed animals in Canada. However, the animals were all super loving (and even kid-friendly!)
If you are in the area, I highly recommend you visit! You will not believe how quickly pigs can run, or how much you can enjoy the company of sheep. I’m glad to report that I left with a renewed connection to the animals I strive to be a voice for.
Needless to say, my Kale Is the New Beef t-shirt also got a ton of love during my visit. You can get your own on Doug McNish’s website.
I hope each and every one of you has a wonderful week,
